Introduction to this Mandarin Chinese Course.
This course is designed for those who is interested in learning conversational Mandarin Chinese from the very beginning. It’s primary goal is to help learners develop the communicative ability in Mandarin Chinese by learning language structures, functions and related cultural background.
These lessons are suitable for anyone who decides to self-study Mandarin. You can spend about a week on each lesson.
The course comes mostly in audio files in MP3 format, but sometimes, I produce video lessons to show how the language is used in real life situations. The video files are in MP4 format and can be directly viewed on your computer, video iPod, iPhone or any other MP4 video player.
You can subscribe for my lessons to download the new lessons automatically. Please use iTunes for that( Free download at www.apple.com). Please follow the link on the sidebar.
Transcripts and worksheets are available from the Website as well.
In order to start, please click on “All Lessons” link at the top of the page and browse to the lesson of your choice!

great idea. i hope others will listen in. if you have more advanced speakers of mandarin listening, would you consider making your lessons more advanced? for exmaple, i’ve studied chinese for two years in the USA and then lived in China for two years. any suggestions on how to keep my Chinese up to speed while being back in the USA for several months? thanks

Serge, I am writing you from Colombia in South America. I would like to thank you for your work, very few mandarin teachers visit Colombia (almost none) you are the only hope for people in countries where acces to foreign lenguages is dificult like in my case. I would like to congratulate you on your effort to bring mandarin to people around the world.
As soon as I found out about the podcast and the web page, I told all of my friends. You now have sixteen new students who learn from my computer and are very grateful. Thanks to you we will learn basic conversation in mandarin. I am sure that if you keep it up, thousands even million of people around the world will remember you as the man who kindly taught the world not only how to speak Chinesse but also the man who helped the world become a more friendly and integrated place.
Once again,
Thank you!!!!

You have done an awesome work. I have been studying Mandarin for the past 2 years. Even though I really enjoy learning it at school, the heavy load of work at my university doesn’t let me continue my studies in Chinese. But this lessons are a great way to keep my chinese on the top of my head and keep improving by my own means. Thank you very much.
